By Ella Doran I have recently come back from a trip to India – a land that fills me with joy and excitement, with all its history, colour, noise and energy.
My passion for photography first took root here in India as I captured the colours and natural brilliance of everyday life during my textile degree back in 1992.
On returning, over 10 years later, I found that lots had changed but the essence of India, along with the saturation of pattern and colour in everyday life, had not.
I have chosen these pictures as they all display a sense of order, either the stacking and piling of books and papers, or the folding and hanging of objects and materials; all from the streets, in full display, amidst the chaos of animals, cars, bicycles and humans!
I think I gravitate to these rhythms and
patterns in life as I too search for order amidst the ordinary chaos of my daily life as a mum, an artist, a business woman, and not least a wife!
…… perhaps this contributes to why I love and adore pattern in all its shapes and sizes, and is in part why I love photography; because I use my viewfinder as a form of meditation for my eyes and my mind!
