Edition Two Competition Results

We are delighted to announce the winner of our edition two competition to win a beautiful hummingbird necklace, designed by the wonderful Alex Monroe, Liberty's top-selling jewellery designer.

Our competition asked readers to describe their favourite landscape, in honour of Alex's links to the Suffolk landscape and its flora and fauna, which are an endless source of inspiration to him.

Our winner is Catherine Lyons for her poem 'Desert'. Congratulations Catherine!

We would also like to congratulate our Runner-up Clara Barrington for her poem 'London from my desk' - although sadly we only have one necklace to give away!

Both poems are printed below:

Desert
by Catherine Lyons

Pre-dawn the dark crust is cold and moist to the touch,
You bend, breathe, salute the sun, and are rewarded with such flaming heavens, even the faintest heart soars.

The earth quickly bakes, cracks, crisp beneath your feet as you crunch along under a scorching azure sky past tiny leaved acacia trees, stronger, more resilient than you.

Rest. Breathless. The air burns.

Here now the wind gently whips the loose grains into the fracturing amber light as you watch with wonder

home.

The weight of stars press heavy upon the eyes. Fire crackles. Bliss.

London from my desk
by Clara Barrington

For me the London skyline is the most inspiring. North, East, South and West so very different
The sunrise in the morning
The white haze over London when it is misty.
At sunset, the buildings in the city glowing red, almost on fire
The bridges lit up in the dark
The full moon shining through the London Eye, what a sight to behold

The houses of parliament, standing so proud
Battersea power station, so solid and bold
M16 building so secretive, what is it like inside?
The gherkin, so shiny and new
Big Ben so familiar

Each day I gaze and try and pick a new landmark out
There’s so much to explore
This is London from my desk
